ARMY COMMANDER VISITED TO KILINOCHCHI.

The Commander of the Sri Lanka Army Lieutenant General RMD Ratnayake WWV RWP RSP USP ndupsc visited Security Force Kilinochchi on invitation by the Security Force Commander Kilinochchi Major General S Ranasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc on 24 March 2014. Commander of the Army declared open newly constructed Tennis Court and Squash court within security force headquarters premises. He addressed 275 officers deployed in Security Force Kilinochchi Area of Responsibility including GOCs, brigade commanders and commanding officers. There he explained the latest developments in administration, logistics and sports arenas in the army and stressed upon the importance of national security taking priority over every other activity. Further, he instructed the officers to educate all troops under their commands to be extra cautious in handling different web based social networks and refrain from involving in activities detrimental to national security. Commander of the Army attended a separate programme at the Kilinochchi Harmony Centre where 23 deeds of the lands forcibly acquired by LTTE were distributed among the owners and distribution of compensation worth of Rs. 100000.00 each among 18 families of missing persons during the conflict as a part of government compensation programme. He also attended a distribution of 107 milking cows among 98 needy families living in Kilinochchi area. The cows were provided by the Millawana estate of Elkaduwa plantation. Mr. Prabath Kumara, the Superintendent Millawana estate also attended the event. Commander of the Army attended a press briefing at the Harmony Centre where he explained the press on national security concerns clarifying certain questions by the press. He also explained the concept of the Harmony Centre and security forces efforts in national reconciliation process.
