ANNUAL CHRISTMAS CAROLS PROGRAMME STAGED IN NELUM PIYASA IN KILINOCHCHI BECAME CENTER OF ATRACTION

With the intention of respect to all religions and enhance the reconciliation process whilst maintaining the peace among all communities, Security Force Headquarters – Kilinochchi organized a very special Christmas Carols programme at the ‘Nelum Piyasa’ auditorium in Kilinochchi on 13 December 2019.

Reverend Fr P.J. Jebarathnam, Vicar General of the Jaffna Diocese and Major General GV Ravipriya WWV RWP ndu IG, Commander Security Forces Kilinochchi graced the occasion respectively as the Guest of Honour and chief guest whilst Mr. S Sathyaseelan, Addl. Govt. Agent, District Secretariat, Kilinochchi, together with many government officials and executives of the private sector participated as special Guests.

Proceeding of the Christmas Carols unfolded variety of carols and most of them were conducted by the local youth. Reverend Fr Daniel and Rev Fr Viganeshwaren read the Gospel in tri languages. Reverend Fr P.J Jebarthanam the Vicar General of the Jaffna Diocese read out the Christmas message at the beginning of the event. Welcome speech was delivered by Commander Security Forces Kilinochchi and appreciated positive contribution of the all local community who were actively participated for the success of this event and special thanks was extended to the Vicar General of the Jaffna Diocese for accepting our invitation with very short notice and made his presence to grace this important occasion.

The Christmas Carols were sung in Sinhala, Tamil and English languages as a symbol of peace and harmony. Members of the Baptist Church – Barathipuram, Church of South Indian-Kilinochchi, Anglican Church Kilinochchi, St Theresa Church Kilinochchi and Church of the American Ceylon actively participated with Army Band and cultural team to perform carols.

Reverend Fr P.J. Jebarathnam, Vicar General of the Jaffna Diocese presented gifts for each choir teams as an appreciation of their performances and the contribution.As a final event, all choir teams gathered together and presented the ‘Feliz Navidad' song.

Commander, FMA-KLN, Major General A D Elwatte, Genaral Officer Commanding 57 Division, Major General B P S de SILVA RSP, General Officer Commanding, 66 Division, Major General M D Wijesundara RSP, Brigade Commanders of SFHQ-KLN, Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks, Government Officials, Police officers and large number of civilians participated as spectators and witnessed the colorful Christmas Carols programme.
