ANNUAL CHRISTMAS CAROLS HELD IN KILINOCHCHI

With the seasonal compliments as well as with objective of promoting religious reconciliation among all communities in the Kilinochchi area, Security Forces Headquarters - Kilinochchi together with 57 Division organized the annual Christmas Carols Service. The event was held on 20 December 2018 as a colorful and glorious evening at the “Nelumpiyasa” Auditorium with guidance of Commander Security Force Kilinochchi Major General Ralf Nugeraand supervision of Major General Vigitha Ravippriya, General Officer Commanding – 57 Division.

Right Rev. Dr. Nobert Andradi the Bishop of Anuradhapura gracing the occasion as the guest of honour and Commander Security Force Kilinochchi as the chief guest. Bishop read Christmas message highlighting the importance and true meaning of Christmas to the audience. Rev. Fr. Daniel Murthi of Anglican Church preach the Gospel in Tamil and Rev. Fr. Vigneshwaram of Baptist church Bharathipuram preach the Gospel in Sinhala. Commencing the Christmas Carols team of the South Indian Church presented a welcome dance.

Adding festive atmosphere to the occasion, the Christmas Carols sang in Sinhala, Tamil and English language as a symbol of peace and harmony. Together with several choirs including the Army choir, dancing team and brass band from the Directorate of Army band and performing arts, choir of Security Forces Kilinochchi, most celebrated melodies sang as praise and appreciation of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Chorale of Methodis Church - Paranthan, choir of Baptist Church -Barathipuram, Chorale of Church of South Indian at St Pauls Church -Murukkandi, Choir of Anglican Church -Kilinochchi, Choir of St Theresa Church Kilinochchi, contributed their voice to add melody and rhythmic variation to the occasion.

Finally, symbolizing peaceful Christmas Carols evening in the Security Force Kilinochchi area, all the choirs gathered as a one team named “Harmony” combined chorale presented the “Feliz Navidad”.Buddhist monks, Hindu priest, Muslim priests and lot of Christian priests, General Officer Commanding 57, 65, 66, Commander Forward Maintenance Area Kilinochchi, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Senior Staff Officers, Officers, Other Ranks and Christian civilians participated.
