All night Pirith Chanting and alms-giving ceremony was held at Lumbini Temple Kilinochchi on 07 March 2020 to invoke bless the people of Sri Lanka and the whole world to live healthy lives free from Corona virus in parallel with the island-wide ‘Pirith Chanting’ that has been organized by Ministry of Buddha Sasana & Religious Affairs.
It was organized by the Forward Maintenance Area- Kilinochchi, in liaise with District Secretariat-Kilinochchi under direction of Commander, Security Forces - Kilinochchi, Major General H M J K Gunaratne WWV RWP RSP ndc psc and close supervision of Commander, Forward Maintenance Area -Kilinochchi Major General AD Alwatte
The Commander, Security Forces - Kilinochchi was there to offer the traditional tray of betel symbolically to the Maha Sangha inviting them to begin Pirith chanting until the following morning.
The offer of ‘Heel Danna’ (breakfast) to the monks was held on following morning at the same venue culminated the day’s proceedings at the Lumbini Temple Kilinochchi.
Government Agent Kilinochchi District, Divisional Secretaries in Kilinochchi District, Divisional Commanders, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Officers and Other Ranks in under command formations, public officials and several others also participated on this occasion.
