In support of the Government's Organic Fertilizer Production Process with the direction of Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army General Shavendra Silva, and as a concept of Commander Security Force Kilinochchi Major General Harendra Ranasinghe, 663 Infantry Brigade initiated Organic Fertilizer Processing Centre at 663 Brigade premises with the aim of increasing of producing and using organic fertilizers for farming needs.
The Commander Security Forces Kilinochchi graced Inaugural Ceremony of the Organic Fertilizer Processing Centre on 16 July 2021. Through this project, expecting to produce 30 tons of compost fertilizer per month. During the ceremony the Commander Security Forces Kilinochchi personally supervised the production process and gave necessary instruction to the troops and encouraged them. This production centre established with the Direction of General Officer Commanding 66 Infantry Division, Major General Ajith Dissanayake and close supervision of Commander 663 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier Subashan Liyanagama.
As a part of this project it is expect to improve community awareness on the advantages of use of organic fertilizer. Thus Army expects to fulfill the all organic fertilizer requirement in Kilinochchi area and provide technical support to local farmers for production of their own organic fertilizer.
The General Officer Commanding 66 Infantry Division, Major General Ajith Dissanayake, Commanding Officers, senior officers were also presented in the occasion. This event was conducted under Army Headquarters stipulated Covid -19 Control and Prevention health guidelines.
