66 INFANTRY DIVISION COMMEMORATE POSON POYA DAY WITH COLOURFUL LANTERNS AND DECORATIONS

The 66 Infantry Division beautified the Div HQ premises and Gamini Kularathna Memorial at Elephant pass premises with colorful lanterns and decorations to mark the introduction of Buddhism to Sri Lanka by Arahath Mahinda Thero on “Poson Poya Day”. Under the able guidance of General Officer Commanding Major General Ajith Dissanayake, all the under command formations and Battalion Training school represented with their creative lanterns made by locally found materials strictly adhering to Covid 19 preventive guide lines.

The Security Forces Commander Kilinochchi Major General Harendra Ranasinghe grace the occasion with participation of all Brigade Commanders’ and COs’ of under command formations. The creations were evaluated by a panel headed by the Commander 661 Infantry Brigade, Colonel Deepththa Ariyasena and 1st place won by 11 (V) GR and subsequently 2nd and 3rd places won by 20 SLLI and 20 (V) VIR. The event culminated with a presentation ceremony for the winners and a healthy Coriander (Koththamalli) Dansala.
