66 DIVISION ORGANIZED DISTRIBUTION OF COCONUT SEEDLINGS AND TRAINING PROGRAMME FOR LOW INCOME FAMILIES IN POONARYN AREA
As a concept of General Officer Commanding, 66 Division Major General Duminda Keppetiwalana was successfully launched a distribution of coconut seedlings and training programme for low income families in Poonaryn area with the blessings of Security Forces Commander Kilinochchi Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana on 07 September 2017 at Battalion Training School Arasapurakulam. This programme was aimed to donation of coconut seedlings followed by the subsequent training session for the beneficiaries as a community building effort in order to facilitate domestic economies of the needy people in the area. In this effort, the technical assistance and funds amounting two million which includes seedling fertilizer construction of agriculture well erecting of fence and other material supports were provided by Silvermill Group Giriulla. Under the programme, selected 100 families were provided coconut seedlings (five for each family) and other supportive materials with necessary guidance. Valuable information, about cultivating methods and Booklets and relevant publications were distributed among the beneficiaries by Coconut Cultivation Board - of Pooneryn and Jaffna.\r\n\r\nThe Commander Security Forces Kilinochchi Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana graced the occasion. Major General Duminda Keppetiwalana - General Officer Commanding 66 Division, representatives of Silvermill group and distinguish invitees in the area Mr. Krishnendren, Divisional Secretary of Poonakery and Regional Manager - Coconut Cultivating Board, Mr.Ygundanattended religious leaders and government servants in the area attended for the occasion.\r\n\r\nAt the conclusion, Chief Guest, Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana shared his views with participants and discussed about future assistance for the community building events which are possible in the area and also he discussed about the possibilities of having the same programme in Security Forces Kilinochchi area. \r\n
