65 DIVISION IN COORDINATION WITH ‘MANUSATH DERANA’ ORGANIZES MEDICAL CLINIC FOR UNDERPRIVILEGED FAMILIES AT KILINOCHCHI, MULANKAVIL

A full-day medical clinic for Chronic Kidney Diseases (CKD) was organized by the 65 Division and under command troops in coordination with the ‘Manusath Derana’ charity foundation for under privileged families in the general area of Kilinochchi on Saturday 24 August 2019 at Vinayagar public ground, Mulankavil.

Around 1832 civilians living in Mulankavil and nearby areas arrived at the medical clinic, sponsored by the ‘Manusath Derana’ charity foundation. The medical camp consisted of a C K D pre-identification clinic, Eye Clinic and dental clinic. 450 persons attended the the C K D pre - Identification Clinic, out of which 28 cases were identified to be disease - prone. Simultaneously, 415 and 60 persons had attended eye clinic and dental clinic respectively.

During the medical clinic, 416 spectacles were distributed among vision-impaired villagers in area. 10 more Solar panels were also donated to needy families and 2.5 KV 3 generators donated to social/religious institution in area to receive electric power. 4 schools were given valuable books for their libraries during the same ceremony for the benefit of students. A water purification unit to the Ehetugaswewa Maha Vidyalaya was also donated during the same ceremony for the benefit of students. Distributed 56 stationary packs for school children and 25 nutrition food packs among pregnant mothers in general area. Also sports items were donated to Mulankavil Sports Club. Further a blood donation campaign was conducted at the same location with the participation of 116 Army personnel. The event was also followed by a distribution of 150 coconut, mango and cashew saplings among the participants.

In the meantime, Mulankavil and adjacent area residents were offered an opportunity to receive registration in the Sri Lanka Eye donation society as one meritorious precept.

2 doctors and 7 medical assistants from Kilinochchi Regional Medical Officer Health (RMOH) office and Kilinochchi General Hospital supported and Officers and soldiers of the 65 Division and under command Brigades and Battalions involved in organizing the series of events.

Mr Mahesh Jayawardane, Chairman, ‘Manusath Derana’ Project, together with 29 officials of the ‘Manusath Derana’ team, Mr E.M.H.B Moragaswewa and 6 members of the Sri Lanka Eye Donation Society, Members of the Leasons Hospitals Pvt Ltd and Mr Asanka Perera, Managing Director of the Pure Tec Lanka Pvt Ltd, provided their best cooperation to conduct this medical campaign, together with the assistance. The food and beverage partnership were provided by Ceylon Biscuit Limited, Prime Company and Nestle Lanka Limited.

General Officer Commanding 65 Division, Major General Wasantha Kumarapperuma, Brigade Commanders of 652 and 653 Brigades, Colonel Prabath Kodithuwakku, Colonel Janaka Udowita and many Senior Officers and Other Ranks also contributed to the chain of arrangements.
