573 BRIGADE ORGANIZED A SHRMADANA CAMPAIGN FOR CLEANING KANAGARAYAN ARU

Under the guidance of Major General B P S de Silva RSP, the General Officer Commanding 57 Division, and under the supervision of Commander 573 Brigade, troops of 573 Brigade organized a Shramadana campaign from 0900 hour to 1630 hour on 21 October 2019 to clean and clear the water flow of Kanagarayan Aru which carries considerable flow of water from the Iranamadu Tank. The campaign was organized with the aim of minimizing the damage which could be taken place due to the overflow of Kanagarayan Aru during the monsoon season. The campaign was, a coordinated effort which the villagers, Deputy Director of the Kilinochchi Irrigation Office and his Staff and employers from Kandawali Divisional Secretary Office also participated. 40 soldiers were employed for the campaign along with the support of the regional authorities.
