571 BRIGADE TROOPS HELP FISHERMEN TO EARN MORE BY RELEASING FINGERLINGS

According to a concept of the Commander Security Force Kilinochchi Major General Harendra Ranasinghe, with the intention of promoting nutritional factor and income-generating openings of low income villagers, troops of 571 Infantry Brigade released twenty thousands of fish fingerlings to the Dryarukulam Tank on 29 March 2021.

With the instruction of Commander 571 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier Dammika Welagedara, this fingerlings releasing programme was launched in co-operation with National Aquaculture Development Authority (NAQDA) Kilinochchi Branch. More than twenty fishery families in Maruthunagar GN Division were benefited over this programme.

Aquaculture Extension Officer North Province Mr S Sangidan, Divisional Aquaculture Extension Officer Mr Y Prasath, GS in Kilinagar GN Division and villagers participated in the event.
