57 INFANTRY DIVISION ORGANIZED A CONFERENCE TO REVIEW THE DISASTER MITIGATION PLAN FOR PREVAILING FLOOD SITUATION

In a view of stimulating an integrated and effective disaster mitigation process, a conference with the officials of government authorities engage in disaster mitigation in the District, was conducted at the headquarters 571 Infantry Brigade, under the directions of Major General Sujeewa Senarath Yapa the General Officer Commanding of 57 Infantry Division, on 21 January 2021. The conference has been structured with the aim of reviewing the prevailing flood situation in district and progress of mitigation processes. Further, it was deeply discussed and analyse the upcoming torrential rainfalls, flood situation and prospective response plans.

The Commander 573 Infantry Brigade, Commander 571 Infantry Brigade, Colonel General Staff of 57 Infantry Division, all Civil affairs Officers and all Battalion Commanders participated for the conference. Mr M Gokularajah - Assistant Director of Disaster Management Centre Kilinochchi, Mr S Senthilkumaran - Engineer of Irrigation Department, Kilinochchi and N Sarankan - District Engineer of National Water Supply and Drainage Board, Kilinochchi also participated for the conference.
