57 Division celebrated its 13th anniversary on 26 February 2020 with a series of events from 22 February 2020. Commencement of the events has been marked with the Mass at St. Theresa’s Church Kilinochchi, with the presence of the General Officer Commanding 57 Division, Major General BPS de Silva RSP. At the evening, the Division was blessed with Hindu religious observances at Kandasami Kovil Kilinochchi, followed by Islam religious rituals at Salam Jumma Mosque Kilinochchi on 24 February.
At the same time a periling of ‘Bana’ by Ven. Kaagama Sirinanda Thero was organized on 25th evening and around 600 troops were participated including in neighboring Battalions.
The Ceremonial events of the anniversary commenced on 26 February with the Guard Turnout and the Guard of Honor bestowed to the General Officer Commanding by the 9th Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment. Subsequently, the Chief guest appeared for a group photograph with participation of Officers and Divisional Staff. After the Troop address, all Ranks Lunch was organized on the same day at Non-Commission Officers’ Club.
Finally, as the last event of the celebration, all Ranks of 57 Division get-together was organized at Divisional Administrative Area in the evening of 26th February which was glamoured with musical and dancing events.
