57 Division celebrated its 12 anniversary with a series of events from 15 February to 2 March 2019. Commencement of the events was marked with the Mass at St. Theresa’s Church Kilinochchi on 15 February with the presence of the General Officer Commanding 57 Division Major General Vijitha Ravipriya. At the same time, the Division was blessed with Hindu religious observances on 20 February at Kandasami Kovil Kilinochchi, followed by Islam religious rituals at Salam Jumma Mosque Kilinochchi on 22 February.
As a part of the celebration, an All Ranks get-together was organized at Divisional Administrative Area on the 28th evening of February which was decorated with musical and dancing events. The General Officer Commanding, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Staff of the Division including other ranks participated for the event.
The Ceremonial events of the anniversary commenced on 1st March with the Guard Turnout and the Guard of Honor accorded to the General Officer Commanding by 3rd Battalion Gajaba Regiment. Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers and Other Ranks witnessed the ceremony. Subsequently, the chief guest appeared for a group photograph with participation of officers and divisional staff. The all Ranks Lunch also was organized on the same day at Non-Commission Officers’ Club where General Officer Commanding officially addressed the troops of the Division.
The Seth Pirith Chanting ceremony with the participation of 12 monks headed by Adikarana Sanganayaka of Northern and Eastern provinces, Viharadhikari of Sri Dalada Viharaya Madukanda, Ven. Muwaatgama Ananda thero, was organized to conclude the 12 anniversary celebration on 1 March at the Utility Building of the Division. It was followed by an alms giving at following morning.
