DEPRIVED SCHOOL STUDENTS IN KILINOCHCHI RECEIVE FREE SCHOOL ITEMS

The ‘Mahakaruna Buddhist Society of Malaysia’ collaboration with Security Force Kilinochchi distributed school accessories among 500 school children recently. Two charity programmes were launched 66 and 65 Divisinal areas with the guidance of Commander Security Force Kilinochchi Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana.

Under the direction of General Officer Commanding 66 Division, Major General Duminda Keppetiwalana and Commander 663 Brigade, Brigadier Subashana Welikala; 250 school children at Jayapuram were received essential school items from the representatives of Mahakaruna Buddhist Society of Malaysia on 28 January 2018 at the Jayapuram Maha Vidyalaya.

Same day evening under the direction of General Officer Commanding 65 Division Major General Sarath Weerawardhana and Commander of 653 Brigade, Colonel Janaka Priyadarshana; another 250 school children at Thunukkai were received the same from the representatives of Mahakaruna Buddhist Society of Malaysia at the Mallavi.

The said events were graced by the Commander Security Force KIlinochchi, Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana as the chief guest. Members of Mahakaruna Buddhist Society of Malaysia, General Secretary of World Buddhist Sanga Youth , Ven Mugunuwela Anuruddha Thero, President of the society, Bro. Jacob Chan Teng, Spiritual Director of the society Ven Sri Saranankara Nayaka Thero of Mahakaruna Buddhist Society of Malaysia were among the dignitaries. General Officer Commanding 66 Division, General Officer Commanding 65 Division and all Brigade Commanders of 66 Division and 65 Division, Principles, teachers, students and parents were witnessed the occasion participated for the event.
