Beginning of New Year, 57 Division has launched an agricultural project in support for sustainable agricultural development base on the direction given through the Army Headquarters. ‘Yali Api Nagitimu Atukotu Purawamu’ This is theme which introduced for the government servants for this year with the direction of General Officer Commanding 57 Division Major General Jagath Gunawardena RSP USP ndc psc.
57 Division has been planting trees since year 2017 in support with National Tree Planting project ‘Wana Ropa’ and maintain the agricultural farm in Divisional Headquarters premises. Brigades and Battalions under command of 57 Division also maintain the agricultural farms according to the availability of lands.
To encourage those who engaged with domestic farming, Headquarter 57 Division has organized vegetable sapling distribution event among the under command battalions. Commander Security Force Kilinochchi, Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana USP ndc graced the occasions as the Chief Guest with the invitation of General Officer Commanding 57 Division. At the occasion new vegetable sapling were given to Commanding Officers from all under command battalions. Fresh vegetables which picked from farm of Headquarters 57 Division and under command battalions were gifted to Chief Guest and other invitees.
Further gifts were given to the soldiers those who fully engaged for the farming project at 57 Division Headquarters as a appreciation of their commitment. Further, it was good opportunity for the all present to meet Commander Security Force Kilinochchi just after the arrival of ‘New Year-2018’. Commander Security Force Kilinochchi visited farm which maintained by the Headquarters 57 Division.
