BRIEF HISTORY
Engineer Division was raised under the guidance of His Excellency the President Gotabaya Rajapaksha & the Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army Lt Gen Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc & its covers all aspects of engineering matters related to Military & Nation Building Projects all over the country. Headquarters of Engineer Division is located at Mattegoda & the ORBAT of the division is as follows.
HISTORY
sri Lanka Army Engineer Division was inaugurated on 18 November 2020 during a splendid ceremony at the Sappers Home at Mattegoda. Lt Gen Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Maj Gen Chandana Wijayasundara RSP USP ndu assumed duties as the First General Officer Commanding of the Engineer Division in Sri Lanka Army on 02 November 2021.
ROLE
The role of the Engineer Division is to carry out all engineer tasks of the Sri Lanka Army and support Government Projects / Nation Building endeavours.
TASKS
-
Coordination and execution of:
- Field engineer tasks
- Irrigation rehabilitation projects.
- Road constructions projects.
- General construction projects.
- CBRN Tasks.
- Execution of any other Nation Building Development Projects
- Undertake MACA activities authorized by Commander of the Army.
- On the instruction of AHQ, Support Government authorities in an emergencies and disaster situations.
- Perform any other duty assigned by the Commander of the Army.
OUR INTENT
Division is to be one committed professional team, which is disciplined in thought, word and action in achieving set target.
