Col F Joseph USP

Colonel F Joseph USP commenced his military journey with his enlistment on 22 October 1994 to the Sri Lanka Army, embodying dedication and professionalism throughout his illustrious career. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant on 20 December 1997, initiating a career marked by operational excellence and continuous leadership. Rising swiftly through the ranks, he demonstrated exceptional command capabilities in various capacities, starting as a Platoon Commander and progressing to command responsibilities.

As an adept officer, Colonel Franklin Joseph served in multiple Command, Staff and Instructional appointments, enhancing his expertise in tactical and strategic roles. His commitment and capability earned him a promotion to Captain on 22 April 2001. He further contributed as an Instructor to the Sri Lanka Military Academy imparting his knowledge and experience to future leaders.

With his promotion to Major in 2005, he took on commanding roles, including Officer Commanding of the 63 Field Squadron, 60 HQ Squadron, General Staff Officer II (Plant) at the HQ CFE. His global exposure includes a distinguished tenure with the United Nations in 2006, highlighting his capacity for international cooperation and peacekeeping. He commanded 1 Field Engineer Regiment as the overlooking commanding officer and later became as the Commanding Officer of 4 (V) Regiment SLE from 2016 to 2018, showcasing his ability to lead in challenging environments.

During the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, he has held pivotal staff appointments, including Staff Officer I(A) RHQ SLE, General Staff Officer I (Operations) at the Security Force Headquarters (Wanni), Colonel (Project) at the General Engineer Brigade and Deputy Centre Commandant of the SLE Regimental Centre. His operational and staff acumens were complemented by technical expertise, exemplified by his participation in specialized training programs like the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Level II in the USA.

Subsequently he was promoted to the Rank of Colonel and held the appointments as the Colonel(GS) 52 Infantry Division, Colonel (GS) Security Forces Headquarters (Wanni), Commander, Field Engineer Brigade and currently performing duties as the Centre Commandant at Regimental Centre, Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers.

Through his exemplary service, Colonel F Joseph USP has become a pillar of strength and inspiration in the Sri Lanka Engineers, leaving a lasting impact on the military community. His career reflects unwavering commitment, operational excellence, and a profound sense of duty.
