HUMANITARIAN ASSISTANCE FOR DISASTER-AFFECTED WAR HEROES BY THE SEVA VANITHA BRANCH
In line with a concept of the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel of the Regiment of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry, Major General YABM Yahampath RWP RSP ndu psc together with the Honourable President of the Seva Vanitha Branch, Mrs. Darshani Yahampath a humanitarian assistance programme was conducted for Sri Lanka Light Infantry war heroes who were adversely affected by inclement weather conditions.
Accordingly, a distribution programme of dry rations, clothings, and drinking water was carried out on 14 December 2025 at the Battalion Headquarter of 5th Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry.
For this welfare initiative, clothings and bottled drinking water were generously donated by the Keragala – Putupagala business community, while dry rations were provided by the Whale Aquatics Swimming Club, supplemented by financial assistance from the Seva Vanitha Branch. The entire programme was successfully implemented with the support of Commanding Officer and all ranks of the 5th Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry.
The event was graced by the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel of the Regiment of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry, Major General YABM Yahampath RWP RSP ndu psc, Honourable President of the Seva Vanitha Branch, Mrs. Darshani Yahampath, senior members of the Seva Vanitha Branch, the Centre Commandant and Staff officers of Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment, the Commanding Officer of the 5th Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry and all officers and Other Ranks.
This initiative reflected the Sri Lanka Army’s continued commitment to the welfare of its personnel and their families, especially during times of hardship.
