A SPECIAL PROGRAMME CARRIED OUT BY THE SEVA VANITHA BRANCH OF SLLI IN CONJUNCTION WITH INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY
The Seva Vanitha branch of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry plays a vital role in promoting the welfare of all soldiers belonging to the SLLI Regiment and their families. The year 1990 saw the establishment of the Seva Vanitha branch at the Panagoda Army Camp, where a range of welfare programs were put in place including essential medical assistance, housing support, scholarships, and educational equipment for soldiers' children.
On 23.03.2024, a workshop and lectures were conducted at the main lecture hall of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment for the Seva Vanita Branch members. This event was held in conjunction with International Women's Day and was based on the concept of the President of Seva Vanitha Branch. Expert beautician, Mr Chandimal Jayasinghe and fashion choreographer Mr Rukmal Senanayake were the resource personnel who participated in the event. Around 150 Seva Vanita members attended the program, and 18 pregnant mothers from SLLI families were given valuable essential items as a special gesture.
The annual general meeting of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment Seva Vanitha Branch took place in the evening, chaired by the current president Mrs. Vajira Perera at the Regimental Officer's mess. During the meeting, new appointments were selected to plan future development and welfare projects for the Seva Vanitha Branch.
