SRI LANKA LIGHT INFANTRY AWARDED WITH HONORABLE HIGHNESS TO BRIGADIER KDLC WIJENAYAKE RWP RSP USP WHO RETIRED FROM SRI LANKA ARMY

A ceremony was held on 21 March 2024 at the Regimental Center to honor Brigadier KDLC Wijenayake RWP RSP USP Senior Officer of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment who retired near completing 31 years of Army service.

This senior officer has given his excellent service for the Sri Lanka Army and Sri Lanka Light Infantry by holding many positions of command and staff appointments in different parts of Sri Lanka. He arrived at the regimental center premises on that day and received guard turnout and the ceremonial parade as per the tradition of the army. He addressed the troops and expressed his gratitude to all the officers and soldiers who participated in the ceremonial parade. Later, he went to the Infantry War Heroes Memorial to pay floral tributes to the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the betterment of the country, and also appeared for a group photograph with the officers. After that, he participated in the official tea party organized in the Cpl Club and had a friendly meeting with the Officers and Soldiers. Council members of the Regimental Council, Centre commandant and the staff officers of the RHQ SLLI, senior officers and officers participated for the event in paying respect for the retiring senior officer.

Colonel of the regiment and all ranks congratulate this senior officer who has retiring of Sri Lanka Army service and give virtuous blessing for the future endeavors.
