A brilliant old boy of the Thurston College Colombo, Colonel Sujith Kulasekara WWV RWP RSP who played Cricket, Rugby Football for the College teams and obtain many victories for Thurston College. After School he joined with Sri Lanka Army, on 15 July 1993 with Intake 40 SLMA in order to eradicate the brutal LTTE from the motherland.
Up on the commissioned as a Second Lieutenant on 17 June 1995, he was posted to 10 Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry as a Platoon Commander and served there till he became an Officer Commanding. Later, he served as the most senior Officer Commanding in 8 SLLI from the beginning to end of the Humanitarian Operation.
In order to maintain the unity and territorial integrity of the country. He was very specially appreciated by Commander of the Army during the war on his bravery act and true dedication that he has shown during the war. He was fortunate to Command the 7 Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry and joined as Adjutant of the 11th Sri Lanka Contingent to united nations stabilization mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH) 2009 in order to contribute for the international peace and harmony. The gallant senior officer was awarded WWV, RWP trice and RSP in twice for his bravery and valor in the face of the enemy.
He performed the duties as Instructor and Staff Officer. Some of them are instructor – KDU, Adjt – RHQ SLLI, SO 11 – Dte of PA, GSO 1 – SFHQ (W), GSO 1 – SFHQ (West), Assistant Director – District Disaster Management Unit Kalutara, GSO 1 – HQ SLLI, and Col (Ceremonial) – Dte of PA. He has followed many local and foreign courses such as, Senior IO course, Ballistic Course, JSC, JCC, YO Course at India, Disaster Management and Mitigation Course at India, Para Course at India and he followed Disaster management and Analysis executive diploma at Colombo University, Msc in State Management - Sri Lanka Institute of Development and Administration.
On 21 Sep 2022 morning, the 27th Centre Commandant has took over the office after a traditional guard turnout. Thereafter, new Centre Commandant commemorate fallen war heroes at SLLI monument, followed by a group photograph with all Officers who were participated to the event. The ceremony was ended up with a troop address and tea party.
