A WAR HERO OF THE SLLI WAS OFFERED A HOUSE

According to the conceptual notion of the Colonel of the Regiment, Major General KJ Jayaweera RWP RSP USP rcds, the special Housing Project was commenced in view offered 20 houses for the families of the fallen war heroes and the differently-able soldiers of Sri Lanka Light infantry has successfully accomplished with the assistances and patronages from few donors. As another phase of these endeavors, a house constructed under supervision and effort of 4 SLLI was handed over to S/ 317661 L/Cpl Chathuranga DAM who was critically wounded due to Mortar attack of ruthless LTTE on 23 January 2009.

The entire expenditure of the construction of this fully fledge residence estimated as over 1.3 million was borne by 4 SLLI. The house warming ceremony was briefly held on 17 November 2020 amid religious blessings, invoked by members of the Maha Sangha. The key to this new house was handed over to the particular soldier by the Colonel of the Regiment. The members of Regimental Council, The Centre Commandant, officers and soldiers were present on the occasion.
