A special ceremony was held to honor the Sri Lanka Infantry Elle Team who emerged as the unbeaten Champions of Sri Lanka Army Inter Regiment tournament 2018 with the participation of Colonel of the Regiment Major General JR Kulatunge, RSP ndc psc on 08 January 2019 at the Regimental Centre.
The ceremony was held to felicitate the players and coaches of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment Elle Team, the Colonel of the Regiment and Council members senior, Centre Commandant and several senior officers of the regiment were attended the occasion.
The Chairman Sri Lanka Army Athletic Association Brig C Ranaweera warmly welcomed the players, trainers, supervisors and officials of the Champion Elle Team. A short video clip was played to showcase the match highlights and extra ordinary performances of the champions. Thereafter, cash rewards were also presented to the Elle team players and coaches as symbol of appreciation and encouragement by the Regiment.
The Colonel of the Regiment has extended his honour and gratitude to the players and coaches of the Champion Elle team for their achievement and much valued contribution towards the dignity, pride and fame to the regiment. He further elaborated on achieving big heights every facet of the sports and how to improve their skills to be more consistent in winning results. Colonel of the Regiment has highly praise the leading role and relentless efforts by the pioneering leader of this victory Brig HMJK Gunarathne WWV RWP RSP ndu psc - Senior supervising officer and Maj URL Perera – CO 16 (V) SLLI, Training supervisor.
The felicitation ceremony was concluded with a group photograph and a tea party to all contributed to bring name, fame and honour to the regiment.
