Regimental Headquarters Sri Lanka Light Infantry celebrated its 28 anniversary on 23 Oct 17.
According to the running note, Major General KADA Karunasekara RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc the chief of staff of the Army, also, the Colonel of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Light Infantry graced the occasion as the chief guest.
On arrival at the Regimental Headquarters, the chief guest was warmly received by the Brigadier MM Kithsiri RWP RSP USP, Centre Commandant of SLLI. The Chief Guest inspected the guard turnout before hoisting the SLLI flag.
After resuming the ceremonial parade that consisted with the involvement of troops from RHQ SLLI, 1 SLLI, 2 (V) SLLI, Colour Squads, and squads from all the battalions, Col of the Regt addressed the troops. In his speech, he elaborated the magnificent historical background of the SLLI whist evoking the memories of suprimly sacrificed war heroes. He didn\'t forget to keep remembrance for the enrichment of sport activities and moto of SLLI, which is the main vision of Sri Lanka Light Infantry.
He devoted presenting plaques and certificates for the Best Battalion in regular force and volunteer force, separately. (Regular Force - first place 11 SLLI, second place 7 SLLI, and Volunteer Force - first place 16 SLLI, second place 5 SLLI). Moreover, considering the achievements gained during inter Battalion Drill Competition, 4 SLLI was awarded for the first place whilst 6 SLLI was recognized for second place. Capt RMLC Rathnayake SLLI who is in 11 SLLI was symboled for the Best Platoon Commander.
