The Sri Lanka Light Infantry held its colours night - 2017 at the Defence Service School Auditorium on 12 Sep 17. Scrutinizing the aim which to enhance the sportsmanship, interest, and enthusiasm of the regimental sport whilst achieving the national and international victories, 153 sportsmen who have earned glorious results during the competitions were considered. Upon the warm invitation made by Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel of the Regiment of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry Maj Gen KADA Karunasekara RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc, the Commander of the Sri Lanka Army Lt Gen NUMMW Senanayake RWP RSP USP psc graced occasion as the Chief Guest.
The national and international level competitors in karate competitions and athletes in Para Athletic Games were praised by the Chief Guest. More importantly, S/330701 L/Cpl Dilshan EAN from 23 Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry was awarded the title of Best Sportsman when S/322977 Cpl Weerasinghe RMKKR of RHQ Battalion of Sri Lanka Light Infantry was awarded the title of Best Para Sportsman.
Due to proper supervision made by the Center Commandant Brig MM Kithsiri RWP RSP USP, the event turned into a great success. Serving Senior Officers, Retired Senior Officers, Officers, Coaches, RSM, NCOs and Sportsmen and their Spouses were the participants for the Colours Night 2017.
