SRI LANKA LIGHT INFANTRY GAVE A HAND TO GIRLS ORPHANAGE
Sri Lanka Light Infantry Officers and Other Ranks engaged in a welfare activity at Maha Bodhi Child Development Center at Meegoda, which coincided with the 69thIndependence Day celebrations of Sri Lanka.
The orphanage houses dozen of innocent under-aged girls and was in need of assistance to renovate a toilet complex, the drainage and the associated water supply system. As the situation was deteriorating for living, the authorities of orphanage had sought the support of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry recently.
On information, Major General K A D A Karunasekara RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc, the Colonel of the Regiment Sri Lanka Light Infantry immediately paid his attention to assist them. Accordingly, the renovation of toilet complex and the drainage system which was in dire conditions for healthy use was carried out on Friday, 3rd February 2017. Afterwards, the water supply system was overhauled to guarantee an uninterrupted water supply for residing children there.
