OPENING CEREMONY OF THE NEWLY CONSTRUCTED CORPORALS CLUB AT RHQ SLLI AND SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDING CEREMONY
The inaugural ceremony of grand opening of the newly constructed Corporals\' Club at the RHQ SLLI held on Friday, 21 August, 2015. Further, it is also conducted a prize awarding ceremony for a group of children those who excelled in grade five scholarship examinations of the Officers and Other Ranks of the SLLI. The Commander of the Army Lieutenant General AWJC de Silva RWP USP ndu psc graced the occasion as the chief guest.\r\n\r\nAs per the master plan, SLLI regiment construction was started in few years back. Newly constructed Cpls\' club is one of them. It is two-storied building which can be accommodated nearly 175 members at a time for dinning and winning. This will facilitate for the members of the Cpls\' club to exercise their customs and etiquettes.\r\n\r\nCommander of the Army was warmly received by the Centre Commandant Brigadier MM Kithsiri RSP, at the main entrance RHQ, SLLI. He reviewed the Guard Turnout at the entrance and afterwards accorded the Guard of Honour at the Regimental Parade Ground. \r\n\r\nAs per the programme, Commander of the Army give away the scholarships to the children, at the RHQ SLLI conference hall and addressed SLLI troops at the Russell Heyn ground. Major General KADA Karunasekara RSP USP ndu psc, Colonel of the Regiment - SLLI together with 125 officers and 830 other rankers attended the ceremony.\r\n\r\n\r\n
