Major General G.M.N Perera RWP RSP USP ndc assumed office as the new Colonel of the Regiment in the Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) during a simple ceremony, amidst religious observances and military formalities on 16 January at the SLLI Regimental Centre, Panagoda.
The Centre Commandant and all Staff Officers at the Regimental Centre warmly welcomed the incoming Colonel of the Regiment after he was agreeted in a Guard Turnout at the entrance. Subsequently, he was invited to receive the tribute of the Guard of Honour at the parade square.
He marked the assumption symbolically by placing his signature in an official document, amidst the chanting of ‘Seth Pirith’ by members of the Maha Sangha.
Furthermore, the new Colonel of the Regiment paid a floral tribute to the war heroes' monument and addressed All Ranks in the Regiment.
