SLLI Warrant Officers and Seargents Get Into Their New Apartment

The recently completed new apartment for the Sri Lanka Light Infantry Warrant Officers\' and Sergeants\' living at the home of Light Infantry, the Regimental Centre Sri Lanka Light Infantry premises at Army Cantonment, Panagoda was declared open in a brief ceremony on 26th of June 2012, attended by Major General RMD Rathnayaka RWP RSP USP ndu psc the colonel of the regiment of SLLI as the Chief Guest. The new premises adjoining the age-old colonial Sri Lanka Light Infantry Warrant Officers\' and Sergeants\" Mess has now provided much space for Senior Non- Commissioned Officers\' to live and accommodate more conveniently. This had been a necessity in the recent as the strength increased while many senior non-commissioned officers also receiving employments in non-combat new roles at Army cantonment, Panagoda with the end of war against LTTE terrorism in 2009. All Warrant Officers and Sergeants in the Sri Lanka Light Infantry contributed financially to build this new building and, in addition a significant financial donation was also made by Major (retd) Nishantha Rajapaksha and Mr. Dammika Agarangoda to make it a success. Major General RMD Rathnayake, the Colonel of the Regiment SLLI in this brief ceremony also handed over two mementos to Maj (retd) Nishantha rajapaksha and Mr. Dammika Agarangoda in appreciation of their contributions in this project.
