Major General CD Weerasuriya RWP RSP ndu the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Light Infantry made a field visit to 3 SLLI and 20 SLLI Battalions on 11 March 2023 as his first visit of after assumption of new appointment as the Colonel of the Regiment. The visit has been mainly set with the objectives of receiving updates on operational, administrative, training and other perspectives of Battalions and also to aware on essential needs of officers and soldiers serving in Battalions. Colonel of the Regiment was received by Commanding Officers on the arrival to their Battalion Headquarters premises with honor.
During the visit, Colonel of the Regiment has instructed to maintain army discipline to carry out entrusted duties to the optimum level, improve the skills on sportsmanship and to concentrate towards the welfare of soldiers while appreciating the achievements of all visited Battalions. Further highlighted more on maintaining of military discipline, which is the driving tenant of successful civil military conduct. At the same time he has drawn the attention on drug addiction, Illegal activities, using social media, several other abusive and suicidal behaviors, during the troop address. Meaningful thoughts of Colonel of the Regiment was significantly emphasizes those activities will effect to tarnishing of the good image of the Regiment and army respectively where all should insist to prevent from them. Furthermore, pointed that the importance of skilled soldier for the success of army’s way forward.
Afterwards the visiting Colonel of the Regiment has focused on areas are to be improved in Battalions and pertinent instructions were given to all issues. SLLI Centre Commandant, few Senior Officers and Other Ranks were associated with the visit.
