The Sinhala and Hindu New Year festival was celebrated by Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment with the participation of Officers and Other ranks of the SLLI Regiment at the Russel Heyn ground on 09th April 2019.
Major General JR Kulatunga RSP ndc psc Colonel of the Regiment SLLI was graced the event as the Chief Guest together with Mrs Thushari Kulatunga Chairperson SLLI- Seva Vanitha Branch and host of Senior Officers of the SLLI. Giving priority for the customary ways event was ceremonially opened with the lighting of the traditional oil lamp.
The event included ancient village consisted with Gami gedara, Kumbal gedara, Toddy Bar etc and many varieties of traditional games, fun-making features in keeping with unique and ancient customs. Marathon, Tug of War, selection of Beauty Queen (Bakmaha Kumariya) and many more traditional games were taken placed.
Major General JR Ampemohotti RSP, Major General HMJK Gunaratne WWV RWP RSP ndc psc, Regimental Council Members, Centre Commandant, Members of Seva Vanitha Branch SLLI and large numbers of Officers and Other Ranks with their family members participated to the ceremony.
As per the directions of Col of the Regiment, newly wedded couples have been welcome to the Officers mess SLLI by the Col of the Regiment together with Mrs Thusari Kulatunga.
