General SHS Kottegoda(Rtd)WWV RWP RSP VSV usp ndu assumed duties as secretary defence on 29 April 2019.This retired Senior Officer was one of a Comd of the army and Col of the Regimant Sri Lanka Light Infantry as well.His military carrier was more than 35 years. After appointing as secretary defence ,he visited the regimental headquarters at panagoda on 27 July 2019.
Events commenced with a ceremonial drive passed followed by the Guard of Honour with the participation of Senior Officres, Officers ORs from all Units and commemoration of war heroes by laying flower wreath to the war heroes monument.The day’s event was also included a all ranks tea, at the Warrant Officers’ and Sergeants’ Mess. The programme culminated with a ‘Felicitation Dinner’ hosted for General SHS Kottegoda(Rtd)WWV RWP RSP VSV usp ndu secretary defence and Mrs Sonia Kottegoda in the Regimental Officers’ Mess. Maj Gen LM Mudalige RWP RSP ndu the Col of the Regiment and Mrs Krishani Mudalige Cheirperson of Seva Vanitha Branch SLLI, Senior Officers, Officers and their Spouses ,Retierd Senior Officers and their spouses graced the event as well. Finally, on behalf of members of Sri Lanka Light Infantry the Col of the Regt has presented a special memento to secretary defence for memorise his remarkable visit of this Regimental Head Quarters.
