Regimental Centre SLLI in a fitting reception extended a warm welcome to their Colonel of the Regiment Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku when he formally made his maiden visit to the Regimental Headquarters on Friday (11) upon his recent acceptance of the Army's second highest office, Chief of Staff.
Formalities of the day included a Guard Turnout at the entrance and a high standard Guard of Honour parade. Maj Gen Sujeewa Hettiarachchi and Brig Krishantha Peiris warmly received him before he was invited to review the parade in keeping with regimental unique traditions in the company of the parade Commander.
Subsequently, Chief of Staff paid a floral tribute n view of recalling the valour and gallantry of the brave soldiers who made supreme sacrification on behalf the motherland.
The day's agenda next invited the new Chief of Staff to inaugurate the newly-installed elevator which provides easy passage to the new Auditorium, Canteen complex and Other Ranks' Mess, all housed in the same complex.
The new Chief of Staff after a little while was invited to address the audience which consisted with Officers and Other Ranks at the Regimental Main Auditorium. In his speech, he highlighted enormous supports given by the troops belongs to Sri Lanka Light Infantry and requested from all of the audience to continue with all the good works to achieve the regimental goals and objects in a manner of optimum.
A few minutes later, he joined refreshments with All Ranks at the Regimental NCO's Club.
In view of adding memories and make glamour to the occasion, few group photographs were taken with the new Chief of Staff at the Regimental Office Complex.
Before his exit from the SLLI Headquarters, the visiting Chief of Staff left his signature in the Visitors' Book adding symbolic memories to his visit to the SLLI Headquarters as the new Chief of Staff of the Army.
A gathering of Regimental council members, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks witnessed the day's proceedings.
