\"Poya Day Buddhist Sil Campaign\" the monthly religious ceremony organizes by the Sri Lanka Light Infantry this month too held in a very dignified manner amidst a large gathering of Buddhist devotees at BodiRajaramaya, Panagoda. The religious observances started since morning hours on Duruthu Full Moon Poya Day (15th January 2014) and, this time \"Gajaba Regiment troops\" also joined with Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment to make the religious event a success.
Proceedings of the monthly religious event continued till evening under the guidance and active participation of Colonel CD Weerasuriya, The Center Commandant, Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment. Officers and Other ranks of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry and Gajaba Regiment observed Sil and offered \"Dhana\" the mid-day meal to Venerable MahaSangha in the morning hours.
Troops also saved lives of several cows from the death by buying them from slaughtering houses and freeing them to farmers who can look after those animals on a strict set of conditions.
A large of number of civilian devotees living around was also seen attending \"Gilanpasa Buddha Pooja\" organized by the troops in the evening.
