Newly Promoted Major General Welcomed in His Mother Regiment

Major General JR Ampemohotti RSP who was newly promoted to the rank of Major General was greeted to a Guard Turnout and honoured in a Guard of Honour upon his formal arrival at the Home of Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) at Panagoda on Wednesday (26) after his promotion.

This Senior Officer who was wounded during the war in 1990 in Palali, irrespective of his disability showed his colours in a series of sports, inclusive of firing, athletics, badminton, table tennis, archery, wheelchair marathons and participated in many Para games either representing the Army or the country.

Presently, Major General JR Ampemohotti RSP is serving the appointment of the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Para Olympic Committee.

He was warmly welcomed by the Centre Commandant, Brigadier MM Kithsiri RWP RSP USP on behalf of the Colonel of the Regiment, all Officers and Other Ranks of the SLLI soon after he arrived at the venue. In conformity with military traditions, a ceremonial parade saluted him after he reviewed the Guard of Honour in the company of the parade commander.

The day’s programme kicked off with laying of a wreath at the foot of the SLLI War Heroes' monument. An All Rank tea brought the day’s programme to end.

Major General LM Mudalige RWP RSP ndu, Major General ALSK Perera RWP RSP USP ndu and council members of the SLLI, family members, Officers and Other Ranks were present during this formal welcome event.

Major General JR Ampemohotti RSP has also held many command and staff appointments. He has served as the 1st Commanding Officer of the RFT battalion SLLI, General Staff Officer, Deputy Director of the Directorate of Rehabilitation, Director in the Directorate of Human Rights, etc among many.
