MAJ GEN GGAS WICKRAMASENA RWP RSP USP Hdmc AWARDED FINAL SALUTE BY THE TROOPS OF SLLI ON HIS RETIREMENT

The gallant senior officer of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment Maj Gen GGAS Wickramasena RWP RSP USP Hdmc was awarded the final honour by the Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks and the Civil Staff of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment on 05 Friday August 2022 at the Regimental Headquarters in Panagoda Cantonment.

The said gallant Senior Officer was rendered his valuable service in various establishments in Sri Lanka Army and finally he was discharged the duties as General Officer Commanding of 14 Infantry Division. On the eve of Friday (05) morning the troops of Sri Lanka Light Infantry was awarded a Guard Turnout and followed by a gala Guard of Honour. Aftermath, ‘Abhiman Mudunatha’ the SLLI war heroes monument was awarded the floral tribute by Maj Gen Shamantha Wickramasena as a tradition on the retirement. It was followed by the group photograph and the troops address to mark his final speech. The regimental Sergeant Major then, invited for the all ranks tea party held at Corporals’ Club in the Regimental Centre.

To mark the end of the series of events of the felicitation ceremony traditional Dinner Night was held at Officers’ mess RHQ SLLI with the gracious presence of the Chief of Staff and the Colonel of the Regiment Sri Lanka Light Infantry Maj Gen Jagath Kodithuwakku RWP RSP ndu. Finally Col of the Regt was presented a memento as a token of appreciation to said senior Officer in order to appreciate his the distinguish service. Members of the SLLI council, Centre Commandant of the RHQ SLLI and Senior Officers, Officers, were participated for the Dinner Night. Col of the Regt and all members of SLLI Regiment wish all the success in the retirement life of Maj Gen Shamantha Wickramasena.
