HUMANITARIAN ASSISTANCE FOR DISASTER-AFFECTED CIVILIANS IN UDUDUMBARA, KANDY ORGANIZED BY THE SEVA VANITHA BRANCH

In accordance with the concept of the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel of the Regiment of the Sri Lanka Infantry, Major General YABM Yahampath RWP RSP ndu psc and the Honourable President of the Seva Vanitha Branch, Mrs. Darshani Yahampath. A humanitarian assistance programme was conducted for civilians affected by adverse weather conditions.

Accordingly, a distribution programme of dry rations, clothing and drinking water was carried out on 10 December 2025 for the 113 families (405 family members) residents of the Ududumbara Gangoda Grama Seva Division area in Kandy District.

Contributions towards clothing and bottled drinking water were made by the business community of Keragala–Putupagala, while dry rations were donated by the Whale Aquatics Swimming Association, together with financial assistance from the Seva Vanitha Branch.

The programme was graced by the presence of the Honourable President of the Seva Vanitha Branch, Mrs. Darshani Yahampath, senior members of the Seva Vanitha Branch, the Deputy Commandant of the Sri Lanka Infantry Regiment, staff officers, Commanding Officer of 5 Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry and other officers and Other Ranks

This humanitarian initiative reflected the Sri Lanka Army’s continued commitment to supporting fellow citizens in times of need and strengthening civil military cooperation.
