His Excellency the President Hands Over 95 New Houses to War Heroes; Eight SLLI War Heroes Are Among the Recipients
Eight Sri Lanka Light Infantry War Heroes also were among the recipients of new houses under the eleventh phase of the \"Api Venuwen Api\" Housing project launched in the Ratnapura District and His Excellency the President Mahinda Rajapakse handed over altogether 95 newly built houses to War Heroes ceremonially in the event to mark occasion held at Udumththa Maha Vidyalaya on 02nd March 2013.\r\n\r\n\r\nSecretary Defence and Urban Development Mr. Gotabaya Rajapakse and the Chair Person of the Defence Minstry\'s Seva Vanitha Unit Mrs. Ioma Rajapakse who lead the way of this benevolent project since its inception also graced the occasion with the His Excellency.\r\n\r\n\r\nApi Wenuwen Api housing project is carried out with the aim of uplifting the living standard of war heroes and their families by assisting them to build their own houses. Under the eleventh phase 57 army, 24 navy and 14 air force war hero families received new houses from H E the President. In addition gift parcels of household equipment and school stationery and bags were also distributed among the war hero families. So far the project has completed nine phases in Kandy, Kurunegala, Matara, Hambantota, Monaragala, Badulla, Galle, Ampara, Batticaloa, Trincomalee, Kalutara, Kegalle, Polonnaruwa and Gampaha districts.\r\n
