A GREAT CONTRIBUTION TO THE HEROS FROM THE SEVA VANITHA UNIT

In line with the visionary initiative of the Commander of Security Forces (Jaffna) and Colonel of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Light Infantry, Major General Y.A.B.M. Yahampath RWP RSP ndu psc, and the President of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry Seva Vanitha Branch, Mrs. Darshani Yahampath, a program aimed at promoting self-employment among soldiers and their families was conducted on 30th January 2025. This initiative sought to encourage sustainable livelihoods through mushroom cultivation. The event included an informative awareness session on the benefits and techniques of mushroom cultivation, followed by a practical session at the District Agriculture Training Center, Homagama. The program was organized for soldiers of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment and was conducted under the guidance and expertise of the District Agriculture Training Center, Homagama.

The President of the Seva Vanitha Branch, along with senior members, staff officers, and other ranks of the Regimental Centre, attended the event, which emphasized the importance of self-reliance and entrepreneurial development among military families. The program successfully empowered participants with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to pursue mushroom cultivation, thereby promoting economic self-sufficiency and contributing to the well-being of their families.

This initiative underscores the commitment of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry to enhance the welfare and livelihood opportunities for soldiers and their families, fostering both personal and community growth.
