BRIG J THANTHIRI WATTA RWP WAS HONOURED IN FAREWELL SALUTE

The Sir Lanka Light Infantry Regiment on Tuesday, 02 March 2019 awarded farewell salute to one of its proud and products, Brig J ThantritiWatta RWP who had rendered an exemplary and excellent service to the regiment and the SriLanka Army, during a formal military ceremony at the Regimental Centre,Sri Lanka Light Infantry.The retiring Brig J ThanthiriWatta RWP was warmly welcomed by the Centre Commandant Col DAK Dissanayake WWV RWP RSP at the main gate and greeted him by a “Guard Turnout”. Then he paid his final official tribute to fallen war heroes by placing a floral wreath at the monument.

Thereafter, he addressed the all ranks in RHQ SLLI at the cpl cluband expressed his sincere thankedto everyone for their unstinted support given to him during his stay in the Army. He also attended the all rank tea party at the WOs' and Sgts' Mess. Further, he made special comment and placed his signature in the visitors’ book to symbolize the retirement of his distinguished uninterrupted 33 years of service.

He was a veteran Infantryman, his classic leadership was instrumental in eliminating terrorism in motherland and tremendous service contributed to the Sri Lanka Army by holding many command and staff appointments with deferent capacities in various headquarters, few of them are Commander 541 Brigade, Commander 623 Brigade, Commandant Regimental Headquarters Sir Lanka Light Infantry and lastly Brigadier General Staff at Security Forces Headquarters (West). Further, he commanded prestigious 6th Battalion Sir Lanka Light Infantry during his tour of duty. Further, it was awardedRanaWickramaPadakkama (RWP) for his brave commitments displayed in the battle. Maj Gen JR Kulatunga RSP ndc psc the Colonel of the Regiment and all ranks of Sir Lanka Light Infantry wished all the very best for his all future endeavours.
