Another two SLLI's War Heroes offered with New House.

The housing project proposed by the Colonel of the Regiment Major General Jayanath Jayaweera in view of donate 20 new houses for families of fallen SLLI War Heroes and differently-able War Heroes has been completed and another two more houses were donated to selected houseless Warrant Officer and a family of a fallen war hero under the patronage of the Colonel of the Regiment.

Accordingly, 5 (V) SLLI troops spending about over Rs 1.3 million put up a new house in Kahatagasdigiliya for one of their fallen comrades, S/5D00553 Lance Corporal Samarasena S who unfortunately died due to heart attack on 28 December 2013 and the house was vested to beloved spouse of the named late soldier, Mrs K Nandawath by the Colonel of the Regiment. Meanwhile, another new house constructed at Bogaswewa under the supervision and the manpower of the 12 SLLI was vested to WO1 Karunarathne TAN presently performs duties as the RSM 12 SLLI who did not has permanent resident so far. The entire construction cost around Rs 1.3 million, footed by troops of the 12 SLLI. The house was formally vested in the said warrant officer by the Colonel of the Regiment according to the customary way.

Both brief ceremonial warming ceremonies at respective places on 20 November were graced by Major General Jayanath Jayaweera, Colonel of the Regiment as the Chief Guest, together with Major General Wasantha Abrew, the General Officer Commanding 56 Division and Brigadier Anura Dissanayake, the Centre Commandant and a few Senior Officers. Amid religious blessings, invoked by members of the Maha Sangha, the keys to those new houses were handed over to the beneficiaries by the Colonel of the Regiment at the auspicious minute. All those recipients were also gifted with household accessories at the same occasion.
