NEW CENTRE COMMANDANT ASSUMES DUTIES

Colonel IGJP Thilakaratne USP officially assumed duties as the 19th Centre Commandant of Regimental Centre Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment amidst religious rituals and military formalities at the Regimental Centre Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Boyagane on 06 November 2024.

Upon his arrival at the premises, Colonel Jayantha Thilakaratne was accorded with a Ceremonial Guard Turnout and paid tribute to the memory of the Fallen War Heroes monument and the PWW Recipients monument. Afterwards, the newly appointed Centre Commandant symbolically placed his signature on an official document to mark the assuming of duties, amidst religious observances at his office.

Leaving an indelible gesture, Colonel Jayantha Thilakaratne planted a tree sapling at the Regimental Headquarter premises and posed for a group photograph with the Regimental Centre Staff adding much more memories to the day and then attended an all rank tea with officers and other ranks at the Men's Club.

Subsequently, setting out his scope of work and duties, Colonel Jayantha Thilakaratne addressed troops serving in the Regimental Centre and urged them to work with commitment and high standards of discipline whilst highlighting the regimentation of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment. Having chaired a brief conference with key appointment holders of the Regimental Centre, the day's ceremony culminated with a fabulous lunch arranged at the Officers Mess.
