VESAK DANSALA BRINGS JOY TO THOUSANDS UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF VIJAYABAHU SEVA VANITHA BRANCH

In celebration of the sacred Vesak Poya, the Vijayabahu Seva Vanitha Branch, in collaboration with the Regimental Centre and all Vijayabahu Infantry Battalions, successfully organized a Kadala and Ice Cream Dansala on 12 May 2025 at Malpitiya Junction.

The programme was conducted under the concept and supervision of the Chairperson of the Vijayabahu Seva Vanitha Branch, Mrs. Damayanthi Bandaranayake, and with the guidance of Commander Security Forces - Central and Colonel of the Regiment, Major General Nalin Bandaranayake USP.

Vesak Poya, the most significant day in the Buddhist calendar, commemorates the birth, enlightenment, and passing away of the Buddha. It is a time for reflection, compassion, and the practice of generosity. Observed by Buddhists around the world, Vesak promotes spiritual values, peace, and unity, making it a cornerstone of cultural and religious observance in Sri Lanka. The Dansala tradition, offering free food and refreshments, is a heartfelt expression of these values.

Reflecting this spirit, the community outreach event served over 6,000 civilians, offering refreshments in a warm, festive atmosphere. The initiative not only highlighted the values of unity and service but also strengthened the bonds between the military and the community.

The event's success was made possible through the unwavering dedication and support of the Seva Vanitha Branch and the officers and troops of all Vijayabahu Infantry Battalions.

Senior Officers, Officers, and Other Ranks participated in this charity event.
