OFFICERS’ TRAINING DAY FOURTH QUARTER 2025 CONDUCTED AT RHQ VIR

Under the patronage of the Commander, Security Forces Headquarters (Central) and Colonel of the Regiment of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Major General Nalin Bandaranayake USP and the supervision of the Centre Commandant Brig Jayantha Thilakarathne USP, the Officers' Training Day for the fourth quarter of the year 2025 was successfully held at the Regimental Centre, the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment on 29 December 2025.

Following the set programme, the day's proceedings commenced with a morning physical training session at the Regimental Playground. The day's first lecture was conducted on a timely and thought-provoking lecture on the topic" Psychological Purview of Adapting Healthy Behaviors" by Brig (Dr.) R M M Monaragala USP SLAMC, Director – Directorate of Army Preventive Medical and Mental Health . This was followed by an informative session on "Non Communicable Diseases prevention and Control" conducted by Maj (Dr.) P A S D Jothipala SLAMC. To further inspire and entertain, the film "Arctic Convoy" a WWII war film about civilian sailors on a dangerous Arctic supply mission to the Soviet Union, facing brutal weather and enemy attacks after losing their naval escort was screened at the Archers' Cinema.

In line with the Officers' Training Day, another successful Diners Club session was held at "The Salute" Multifunctional Hall, Boyagane with the participation of officers serving in various military establishments including officers of VIR Battalions. As the guest speaker of the night, Maj Gen P S Subath Sanjeewa RSP nps psc, Colonel Commandant Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps and the Commandant Army War College conducted an informative and thought provoking lecture on the topic "navigating Financial Challenges and Achieving the efficiency in Military Operations". Officers took the opportunity to share their views with the audience and had an interactive session with the guest speaker.

Regimental Council Members, Centre Commandant, Senior Officers and Officers serving in various establishments including VIR Battalions participated in this event.
