Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, following its’ traditions and military formalities with the blessings of the Colonel of the Regiment of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Major General KAWNH Bandaranayake USP and supervision of the Centre Commandant, saluted the newly promoted Major General W M N K D Bandara RWP RSP USP ndu psc, Director of the Directorate of Training on 27 May 2025 in a fitting ceremony, held at the VIR Regimental Centre, Boyagane.
Tributes were respectively offered by warmly receiving the day's Guest of Honour and subsequent Guard Turnout at the entrance in accordance with military formalities. Afterwards, in remembrance of all fallen Vijayabahu War Heroes, Major General Dilupa Bandara laid the floral wreaths at the War Heroes Monument and PWV Monument paying tributes in a sincere ceremony. Simultaneously, a Guard of Honour was accorded to newly promoted Major General Dilupa Bandara in keeping with military traditions.
Leaving an indelible gesture, newly promoted Major General Dilupa Bandara ushered to All Ranks Tea Party arranged at the mens’ club and a symbolic memento was presented by the Colonel of the Regiment to engrave this remarkable event. Then, Major General Dilupa Bandara expressed his gratitude to the Colonel of the Regiment, Centre Commandant, and All Ranks of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment for arranging such a grateful felicitation for him in a short preparation. Senior officers, Regimental Staff Officers and Other Ranks participated in this event.
