Under the patronage of the Colonel of the Regiment of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Major General Nalin Bandaranayake USP, the NCOs’ Training Day for the first quarter of the year 2025 was successfully held at the Regimental Centre, the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment on 10 January 2025.
Following the set programme, the day's proceedings commenced with a morning physical training session at the Regimental Playground. Next, a panel discussion headed by all Grade 2 Staff Officers, Regimental RSM and all the chief clerks of Regimental Centre was conducted where the NCOs got an opportunity to clarify their doubts regarding Regimental matters and also new suggestions and proposals for the betterment of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment were suggested by the participants from different angles. Afterwards, there was a lecture on a timely and a critical issue regarding the topic of " Drug prevention " by Mrs Inusha Nilmini Hettiarachchige. To further inspire and entertain, the film "Bhaag Milkha Bhaag" depicting the life of Milkha Singh, an Indian athlete who overcomes many agonising obstacles to become a world champion was screened at the Archers’ Cinema. Breaking the monotony of the day, participants got the opportunity to play their preferred sports during the evening recreational session.
In line with the NCOs’ Training Day, another successful Diners Club session was held at “The Salute” Multifunctional Hall, Boyagane with the participation of NCOs serving in various military establishments and VIR Battalions. As the guest speaker of the night, Lt Col H G S Gallage psc conducted an informative and thought - provoking lecture on the topic “Path for a virtuous life through good attitudes”. NCOs took the opportunity to share their views with the audience and had an interactive session with the guest speaker. The event culminated with a glamorous showcase of a musical event where the NCOs got an opportunity to witness diverse talents in a vibrant atmosphere.
