The Seva Vanitha branch of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment organised a one day excursion to Colombo Metropolitan to commemorate World Children's Day 2024. This novel Idea was conceptualised by the president of Vijayabahu Seva Vanitha branch, Mrs Damayanti Bandaranayake. Previously, it was traditionally offered a lunch to this children's home by the Seva Vanitha branch. However, identifying the untouch human needs of the children by the president, this excursion was organized for the first time.
The total number of 23 children participated in the event on the day and they travel on a super luxury bus to Colombo. on the way at Pasyala they had the breakfast. Children visited Dehiwala zoo and enjoyed the snacks. It was a new experience for the kids as only 6 children visited the zoo during a school trip earlier. While travelling, it was noticed that shoes worn by three children were unusable and all of a sudden the president of Vijayabahu Seva Vanitha branch, Mrs Damayanti Bandaranayake and senior members, Mrs Lakmini Perera and Mrs Maduwanthi Gallage voluntarily contributed to buy them new shoes ensuring that the children could continue to enjoy their day comfortably. Further, Mrs Eranthi Dilrukshi thoughtfully presented a variety of gifts for children bringing joy and happiness to their faces. They visited the tallest tower in the South Asian subcontinent, the Lotus Tower. This was a new experience to entire 23 children.
A lavish lunch arranged for the kids at the KFC Marine Drive Wellawatte, and it was also a first-time experience for the kids. Organisers accompanied children to the Galle Face as the final liternary of the program where they enjoyed open spaces and sea breeze. Children played cricket, football and enjoyed the evening tea at the Galle Face beach, witnessing the sunset. Children departured from Colombo expressing heartfelt thanks to the President and all the kindhearted members of the Archers Seva Vanitha branch for arranging an exciting experience to celebrate the world Children’s Day.
