Major RBTK Wanninayake assumed duties as the 15th Commanding Officer of the 2nd Battalion, the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, on 21 Dec 2025 at the Battalion Headquarters in Irattaperiyakulam, during a formal military ceremony.
The newly appointed Commanding Officer was warmly welcomed by Major ASL Aththanayake psc, the Second-in-Command, and was honoured with a Guard Turnout. As part of the ceremony, Major Wanninayake placed his signature in an official document amidst religious observances, symbolizing the formal acceptance of his duties. The Second-in-Command, all officers, and other ranks of the Battalion were present to witness this significant occasion.
