19TH COMMANDING OFFICER OF 5VIR ASSUMES DUTIES

Major SHUD Weerawansha RSP USP (O/66077) assumed duties as the 19th Commanding Officer of 5th Battalion The Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment on 04th September 2024. A brief ceremony was held which included religious observances, planting of a tree sapling and a troop address.

Major SHUD Weerawansha RSP USP has joined the Sri Lanka Army as an officer cadet of Sri Lanka Military Academy to the Regular Intake 57 on 18th Januaray 2003. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant on 25th June 2005 and was posted to the 5th Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment.

During his illustrious military career he rendered his service in various command, staff and instructor and performed effectively, serving almost all operational areas, various headquarters and training establishments.

All officers and Other Rankers of the 5th Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment extended warm wishes to the newly appointed Commanding Officer.
