19TH COMMANDING OFFICER OF 1 VIR ASSUMES DUTIES

Major ALW Dissanayake RSP psc (O/66149) assumed duties as the 19th Commanding Officer of 1st Battalion The Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment on 04th September 2024. A brief ceremony was held which included religious observances, planting of a tree sapling and a troop address.

Major ALW Dissanayake RSP psc has joined the Sri Lanka Army as an officer cadet of Sri Lanka Military Academy to the Regular Intake 58 on 14th July 2003. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant on 17th December 2005 and was posted to the 6th Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment and subsequently to 8th Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment while being appointed as Second In Command.

During his illustrious military career, he has rendered his service in various command , staff and instructor appoinmemts and performed effectively, serving in operational areas and various headquarters.

All officers and Other Rankers of 1th Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment extended warm wishes to the newly appointed Commanding Officer.
